Μaπ Β Brock's music really is the most potent and sincere I've ever heard, which sounds like hyperbole but I can assure you is absolutely true. Not only do I feel like we're being invited into his world to discover a part of him, we're also invited to look within and discover parts of ourselves. He didn't release it right away, nor did I listen to it right away, but when the time is right (you'll know) it's a trip of an album that will leave you changed. Favorite track: Men of Few Words.

Saëwa bvdub's music, to my ears, is one of the purest distillations of Victor Hugo's famous quote "music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent." Hearts of Stone hit me like a freight train out of nowhere and I cannot stop listening to it. How? How does he do it?

This was never shunned by labels, nor called nasty names.
In fact no label ever heard it.
No one has heard it but me.

It has sat, untouched, since the day it was finished nearly a year and a half ago, silent in the archives with so many others still yet to ever see the light of day. I don't know what causes any one's trajectory after its completion, any more than I know how on earth it became what it was in the first place. Thus, I don't know why now felt like the time to end its silence. Nor whether that decision was correct. As always, that judgment lies not with me.

Maybe because it reminds of a time before my music and times took darker turns. Before my own heart turned, somewhat, to stone.

Don't let them turn you into a statue of who you were. Who you said you would be. Who you can be.

$1 of every sale will be donated to Putnam Service Dogs, a small independently-run organization who rescues its dogs from shelters and lives of no hope, matching them to those in need, providing both life and hope for dog and human alike. Because we can all use a helping hand. Insert bad paw pun here.

Ours are worlds on fire ablaze
Eyes alight we meet their gaze.

Leave them to their light unshone
Held down by their hearts of stone.
